When applying for an elementary teaching position, please be advised that the applicant’s preferred grade will be given preference; however, following a successful interview and reference check, the District may extend the applicant a job offer to teach at a different grade level, K-6, based on school needs.

The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) Elementary School Teacher fosters a dynamic and engaging learning environment integrating interdisciplinary STEM concepts into the curriculum, encouraging students to develop critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.

QUALIFICATIONS 

  1. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  2. State of Arizona Standard Professional Elementary K-8 teaching certificate
  3. Experience working with elementary-aged students in an educational setting
  4. Experience working with a variety of hands-on, inquiry-based learning that prepares students for future academic and career success in STEM fields, preferred
  5. Proficiency in integrating technology and digital tools into instruction
  6. Have knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies

POSITION SUMMARY

To assist students toward the attainment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student exploration and skill development in both visual arts and music.
  2. Implement age-appropriate art and music curricula aligned with state and national standards.
  3. Assist students toward the attainment of their potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.
  4. Deliver lesson plans that integrate artistic techniques, music theory, history, and cultural appreciation.
  5. Introduce students to a variety of art media (e.g., painting, drawing, sculpture, digital art) and musical elements (e.g., rhythm, melody, instruments, vocal performance).
  6. Incorporate hands-on, project-based learning experiences that encourage creativity and self-expression.
  7. Use differentiated instruction strategies to meet the needs of diverse learners, including students with special needs.
  8. Work closely with classroom teachers to integrate art and music into core subjects.
  9. Collaborate with school staff to plan and implement arts-based events, concerts, and exhibits.
  10. Organize student performances, art displays, and musical programs for school and community events.
  11. Evaluate, conscientiously and fairly, the accomplishments of students and provide progress reports as required by law, District policy, and administrative regulation.
  12. Provide an atmosphere, physical and psychological, conducive to learning.
  13. Maintain accurate permanent academic and attendance records for students.
  14. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Governing Board Policy.
  15. Attend and participate in general faculty and department meetings.
  16. Cooperate with other staff members in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  17. Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional equipment, as applicable.
  18. Participate in professional development workshops and training to stay current on best practices in arts education.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

            VIEW TEACHER INITIAL WAGE PLACEMENT PLAN

           SUPPLEMENTAL:  Classroom Site Fund - $10,000 annual or prorated based on start date!

            WORK YEAR:           9 Month Contract
