Job Title: EHS Intern
Job Summary:
The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Intern will support numerous safety initiatives and compliance projects. Under partial guidance of a senior EHS mentor, you will assist in a number of tasks that promote plant-safety and be presented with opportunities for personal career development. Additionally, the EHS intern will work on a significant end-of-summer project which will display your key contributions and insights to senior leadership. Throughout your experience, you will have hands-on exposure to regulatory compliance, EHS software systems, risk assessment, and safety program management and software.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards and evaluate existing procedure
- Recommend improvements to mitigate risks
- Assist in auditing process to ensure regulatory compliance
- Utilize safety software to track and implement safety programs
- Assist in updating safety manual with guidance from Senior EHS Mentor
- Develop educational content through software systems to promote safe and compliant workplace
- Present final project of deliverables and proven career development to senior leaders
- Additional tasks as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Analytical skills and ability to interpret and apply safety protocols
- Ability to work with a team or complete projects independently
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Education and Experience:
- Pursuing or recently completed bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences, Geology, Industrial management, or a related field.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
