Data Analyst (Entry-Level/Chicago)

The Proxy Administration and Data Administration teams provides setup, maintenance, and daily support of the proxy administration process as well as the security master data for the accounting, trading, and research applications. Daily interaction with portfolio managers and assistants, traders, research analysts, and the proxy committee is involved. Additional responsibilities include project management, analysis of systems and processes for quality assurance, and liaising with the proxy service vendor.

 

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Provide daily support of the proxy administration process, including new account setup, account closing, completing client and questionnaire reporting requests. Support Client Services, Marketing, the Proxy Committee, Compliance, as well as other internal parties as needed.
  • Ensure the proxy service provider is performing functions as contracted.  This is accomplished via reviewing transaction reports and performing adhoc and informal audits of the service provider.
  • Provide daily maintenance of security master data, including security master files, price and FX files. Ensure data accuracy and processing according to established policies, procedures and industry regulations.
  • Utilize data integrity tools and resolve security exceptions across multiple application platforms.
  • Review exception reports and investigate and resolve problems in an innovative and effective manner. Synthesize information from various internal and external data and pricing sources.
  • Manage the delivery and support of Market Data Services activities (Bloomberg, IDC, FactSet, etc.).
  • Interact closely with business partners including Business and Technology Solutions, Fund Accounting, IM Accounting, Trading, brokers, custodians and market data and pricing service providers on a daily basis.
  • Leverage experience with security data, pricing and valuation strategies and practices to proactively identify trends, prepare innovative analysis, summaries and reports.
  • Identify, recommend and implement actionable improvements to current procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, computer science, mathematics or related quantitative field.
  • 0-3 years of experience with supporting proxy voting processes.
  • 0-3 years of experience with maintaining security master and pricing data preferred.
  • Knowledge of valuation policies preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Experience programming in R a plus.
  • Experience programming in Microsoft SQL a plus.
  • Excellent quantitative reasoning, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Detail oriented and able to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong demonstration of initiative and persistence.
  • Able to exercise independent thought and judgment and adapt to new tasks with little notice.
