Emerging Water Professional Internship Program
Gain valuable skills to start a career as a wastewater operator! We’re seeking two summer interns to join the Emerging Water Professional Internship Program and receive hands-on training at the Nashua Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF). There is a growing shortage of wastewater professionals in New Hampshire. Through this program, NEIWPCC aims to bridge the workforce gap and keep waterways clean by providing a direct pipeline to employment in the industry.
In this role, interns will:
- Assist Nashua WWTF staff with plant operations, including aiding in maintenance, completing routine checklists, and collecting water samples.
- Shadow a variety of plant technicians to gain a comprehensive work-based learning experience.
- Engage with NEIWPCC trainers in preparation to successfully take New Hampshire’s Grade 1 Operator License exam.
Successful candidates will have an interest in preserving and advancing water quality, and:
- Be well-organized, be capable of following oral and written instructions, and be effective communicators.
- Possess basic computer knowledge with the ability to learn more complex systems.
- Have earned a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
The anticipated hourly pay range is $19-21, depending on experience and education. This is a seasonal NEIWPCC internship based out of Nashua’s Wastewater Treatment Facility in Nashua, NH. Duties will be performed largely at the Nashua WWTF with possibility for travel, for which a valid driver’s license and private means of transportation must be available. The ability to physically navigate natural terrain, climb stairs, and lift up to 50lbs would be required. Must be 18 years of age or older. This position is not eligible for telework. The position is expected to begin in June and extend through August and would be expected to work 25 hours per week, with some flexibility.
