SEASONAL LABORATORY INTERN - WATER UTILITIES
Are you a current biology, microbiology, or chemistry student wanting to gain real-world experience in water utilities? Join our team as a Seasonal Water Utilities Intern. This role supports both the Water Filtration and Wastewater operations by assisting with laboratory testing and basic plant operations under the guidance of Environmental Health Specialists and Chemists.
Key Responsibilities:
Water Filtration:
- Conduct routine chemical and microbiological tests (e.g., Fluoride, Chlorine, pH, HPC).
- Peforms minor repair and maintain laboratory equipment.
- Clean and prepare lab equipment and supplies.
- Log data and enter it manually into the plant's computer system.
- Assists in collecting samples for laboratory analysis from plant processes and distribution systems.
Wastewater:
- Conduct routine chemical and microbiological tests (e.g., BOD5, suspended solids, chlorine, phosphorous, etc.).
- Perform minor equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Maintains log sheets and performs manual data entry on plant computer system.
- Assists in the accumulation of lab samples from sewage collection system, septage vehicles, and plant processes.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is required; One or more years of college level biology, microbiology or chemistry..

- Understanding of chemical and microbiological testing protocols.
- Competency in data collection and entry.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and laboratory management software.
- Ability to follow safety guidelines.
- Effective teamwork and communication skills.
