POSITION SUMMARY
Employee Services Intern
Join Canopy Service Partners as an Employee Services Intern and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, multi-company HR environment. This internship is designed for a curious, detail-oriented, and proactive individual who is eager to learn the fundamentals of Human Resources across key functions—payroll, benefits, recruiting, and core employee services. You’ll help build scalable, repeatable processes and contribute to the employee experience at 18 companies across 9 states.
This hybrid role (3 days/week in our downtown Chicago office) offers exposure to a broad range of HR responsibilities and is ideal for a student or early-career professional pursuing a career in Human Resources.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and respond to employee inquiries in shared HR inboxes across benefits, payroll, and recruiting.
- Assist in organizing and maintaining digital employee files and documentation in SharePoint.
- Support the onboarding of new hires into our HRIS system (Inova), including data entry and audit support.
- Participate in and help streamline scalable, repeatable processes such as offer letter generation, onboarding checklists, and compliance audits.
- Rotate through project work within each core HR vertical—recruiting, payroll, benefits, and general HR operations.
- Support the HR team in special projects, such as standardizing processes across companies and creating templates or resources.
- Conduct research on HR trends, compliance updates, and best practices to inform team initiatives.
- Gain exposure to employer branding, data reporting, and internal communications as part of a comprehensive internship experience.
Who You Are
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or related field.
- Interested in gaining exposure to a broad HR generalist skill set.
- Detail-oriented and organized, with a high degree of follow-through.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook and Excel.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, high-growth environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated curiosity and initiative—you like to ask questions and improve how things are done.
- Able to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
